Quirky Family rituals! Thanks Preacher's Wife.

I am joining The Preacher's Wife today to share some quirky family rituals.
We don't really have any that seem too quirky, but I wanted to participate in this because I just love The Preacher's wife. She is very quirky. And I mean that with a great deal of respect.

I'm loving the word quirky. I need to add it to my list.

I think the most quirky thing we do is open presents on Christmas Eve.

Ok. I know. I know. Just calm down!

It started years ago when my husband and I first got married. His little sister has a Birthday on Christmas Eve. So we would go over to my In-laws house for a Birthday party and a Christmas party. Well, while we were there my MIL wanted to be able to give us our presents too, so we would open them. When we had our first daughter it was natural for her to open her presents from them then too. Now 3 kids later we still open the presents from them on Christmas eve. We do save all the other presents and stockings until Christmas morning though.

Do you guys have any quirky Christmas rituals?

That's not only practical, it spreads the cheer for 2 days. We do the "one gift" on Christmas Eve. Poor kids. They've caught on that it's pajamas. ;)

We used to open all family gifts on Christmas Eve too when I was a kid. The family was together so it made sense.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and joining in Karen's giveaway. Feel free to come by anytime to pick up a free scripture tag. Best wishes!

We've been quirky like that for years, too. Only now, we have to wait until Christmas morning thanks to the three-year-old. Sigh.

I'm liking the word quirky, too. ;)

I LOVE that you think I'm quirky! I can think of no greater compliment..LOL

We open one gift on Christmas Eve - usually something needful like a pair of shoes they will need for our outing that day. It's so fun giving the kids a teaser before the next day..:)

I started homeschooling my 2nd grader in January last year. She already wants to go back to school, so if yours made it to high school I think that is pretty good! :)

When we lived close to family we would also do presents with my husband's grandparents on Christmas Eve. So much fun!

We opened on Chrismtas Eve my whole life and then last year my girls and I went home for Christmas and was getting ready to open on Christmas Eve and they said they do Christmas Day now.

How dare they change our family tradition without telling me?? Now we open Christmas Eve and Day depending on who it's from.

I'm all for the opening on Christmas Eve. It makes Christmas Day more about Jesus. :)

Not quirky, but we do have a special tradition on Christmas morning.
Before we open presents, we have an advent service. Read scripture, sing songs, light the candles - celebrate Jesus!
